Beaches

The Serapo Beach is the main beach in town, 1 km away from the town center. The Serapo beach is very popular among Italian and foreign tourists, attracted by its fine white sand. It is about 1.5 km long and belongs, almost entirely, to the Municipality of Gaeta. Some time ago the beach was a huge dune, but the sand was used to manufacture bottles by glassmakers between the Corso and Serapo: therefore the beach was greatly reduced in width. Even so, the beach is still very wide with fine sand, clean sea and, up to a certain distance, shallow water for the joy of families with children.
